In response to our discussion last week on the Rob Riemen statement that we are dealing with fascist times in Dutch politics. A word of consideration, warning (?), when using a loaded word like fascism in a discussion. It usually disrupts the discussion and moves the focus away of the issue at hand towards the use of the ‘f’ word. A principle recognized by Godwin in early usenet discussions on the early internet where the ‘f’ word was used. This principle is now known at Godwin’s Law and is used frequently by politicians in The Hague and by journalists. Overton Window is referring to the sliding window of the range of acceptable issue discussed in politics. Ten years ago for example the issue of immigrants was not something that could be discussed, while now it is deemed a normal issue. This shift paradigm shift is called the Overton Window.
Now after all the talk the few pieces of music that we could play in this mostly talk radio like program of this week, but we felt should be explained a little.
